Alzheimer

Alzheimer is neurological disease, is characterised by the loss of neurons and synapsis in the cerebral cortex. In the first stage of AD the person may not remember exact details and forget things.
As we know the risk of having alzheimer increases over sixty onwards. A 5% of man and woman between 65 and 74 years old have alzheimer.
 However is necessary remark that alzheimer is not a natural part of aging, many elderly die without have suffered the disease. So when a elderly relative forget things it could be first symptons of AD or it could be just the typical changes related to age.
In the intermediate stage of disease people could forget how to do simple tasks, such as brushing teeth.
Alzheimer is a chronic disease, it can't be healed and the forecast is between 8 and 10 years after diagnosis, but some people have lived until 20 years with the disease. Some medicines can help to prevent the worsening during early stages of the disease.
People over the sixties usually don't work, but if they need or want to alzheimer they won't be able to do the job in sooner stages. At the end family will be involved in every care of the person, which is very tiring.
